Though his untimely death shocked the X-Men, Professor Charles Xavier left one last request for his mutant students to fulfill. Writer Brian Michael Bendis (Guardians of the Galaxy) will be working alongside artists Chris Bachalo and Kris Anka as they continue with Charles' legacy through his last will and testament in Uncanny X-Men #23.
In the Marvel Universe, Xavier, also known as Professor X, was one of the major casualties from Avengers vs. X-Men. Even though he was lying beaten and bleeding on the floor, Xavier would not give up against the powerful Phoenix Force. After the Phoenix possessed his mind and body, Cyclops delivered the death blow to his mentor/father figure.
In an interview with Marvel Comics, Bendis delves more into the upcoming story arc, "The will is literally a list of things that Xavier needs to have taken care of in the event of his death. Some things the students will be familiar with and other things they will not be."
Bendis then explains how the core members of the X-Men, including team leader Cyclops, will deal with Xavier's will, "Well, the real question is, what did Xavier leave for Scott? Did Xavier imagine a world where his prize student would be at least partially responsible for his death? I will say that the storyline is a big turn in the Scott Summers story."
