Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers often remains humble in both victory and defeat, but it seems his side's 2-0 defeat at home to Jose Mourinho's Chelsea has infuriated him. In soccer the term 'parking the bus' is one taken very offensively. When a team knows their opponents are stronger, they will look to defend constantly, and at times it appears they have eleven defenders. Rodgers, however, didn't just accuse Chelsea of 'parking the bus', he's hit back saying they parked 'two buses'. which is sure to anger Chelsea Football Club.
Liverpool's manager insisted "They parked two buses, rather than one," Rodgers said. "From the first minute they had 10 men behind the ball. We are a team that tried to win the game, in a sporting manner. We were the team trying to win but we just couldn't make the breakthrough." These strong words are likely to annoy Jose Mourinho.
The defeat ended Liverpool's 11-game winning streak, and has put a damper on their Premier League title aspirations. Although Chelsea played in a defensive manner, not many can argue against that choice. Liverpool have torn opponents apart this season, but Mourinho's tactical decisions ensured they'd win, and get themselves back in to the Premier League title race, so it was a move worth making.
Were Chelsea wrong to 'park the bus', or is all fair in love and war? Is there any manager better than Mourinho when it comes down to managing each game with the necessary tactics. Will Liverpool hold on and win the league, or will Chelsea's 'parking the bus' ensure they have a real bus parade with the Premier League trophy?
