After months of speculation, Warner Bros. President of Production Greg Silverman has confirmed that a Justice League movie is in the pipeline at the studio and that the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie would tie into the superhero team up.
"It will be a further expansion of this universe," Silverman told The Wall Street Journal's Speakeasy. "Superman vs. Batman will lead into Justice League."
Silverman also confirmed that Zack Snyder would direct the movie. Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot are expected to reprise their Batman vs. Superman roles as Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, respectively.
Silverman did not reveal which heroes would join the roster for Justice League, but Ray Fisher has already been cast as Victor Stone/Cyborg, so that's a possibility. The Flash, Nightwing and Aquaman have all been rumored, as well.
Furthermore, Warner Bros. has no plans at the moment for a solo Wonder Woman movie, but the studio is open to the idea. "That is our hope," said President of Marketing Sue Kroll. "With the right script, that could be viable. The world is ready for her."
As for a release date, the Wall Street Journal article reports a 2018 release date at the earliest, but Latino-Review (which posted a scoop on Snyder and a Justice League movie recently) reports a rumored release date of May 5, 2017. The Hollywood Reporter then followed up with a report that a 2017 release is likely.
