News broke Sunday that a Justice League movie is officially in the works at Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder, who helmed Man of Steel and is currently working on the sequel known as Batman vs. Superman, would direct the superhero team up. Ben Affleck is expected to return as Batman for the movie, but could his good friend and longtime partner-in-crime Matt Damon appear as Aquaman?
That's the rumor tackled by TheWrap, which reports the following:
"One casting rumor that has been circulating around Hollywood for more than a year is that Affleck's close friend and collaborator Matt Damon is being sought to play Aquaman, though to be fair, Jason Momoa has also been rumored for that role (among others), and he is expected to appear in 'Batman vs. Superman' in some unknown capacity."
The site also reports The Flash and Green Lantern are likely candidates for the roster, though it's unknown if Ryan Reynolds would again put on the power ring.
Bad Ass Digest also reports the following tidbit:
"It's not yet clear if Aquaman will be joining them, but I've heard that early drafts of the script did feature the King of Atlantis, reimagined as more of a barbarian."
Jason Momoa, who starred in Game of Thrones as Khal Drogo, has long been rumored for Aquaman, though the actor has repeatedly denied the rumors.
What do you make of this news? Is Damon a viable candidate for Aquaman, or should the studio not even consider Affleck's friend? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
