Xbox Entertainment Studio has teamed up with IDW Entertainment to develop a live-action series based on a critically acclaimed comic book series. From writer Chuck Dixon and artist Jorge Zaffino, the freezing temperatures of Winterworld will make its way onto your TV screen as an original program on the Xbox.

Originally published in the '80s, the Winterworld series takes place in an apocalyptic future where the entire world has been encased in ice. The surviving humans have been divided into tribes that war, enslave, and trade with one another. Either they live alone or work together as a team in order to survive the infinite winter.

Dixon explains his enthusiasm to see one of his projects adapted as a limited live-action series, "To see my stories and Jorge's powerful images brought to life will be a serious thrill. We have the right partners and the right format to really make this something special. It's an exciting time in comics and in entertainment overall, and I am very pleased that Winterworld will be a part of it."

David Ozer, President of IDW Entertainment, discusses why audiences will be drawn to this series, "Xbox is recognized globally for their groundbreaking creativity. IDW Entertainment could not ask for a better partner to bring Winterworld to life. We are thrilled to be working with them during this exciting time in their growth."

The Winterworld live-action series is expected to debut and air on the Xbox platform. This June, IDW Publishing will return writer Chuck Dixon to the Winterworld series, now with artist Butch Guice.
