The 44-year-old Goddess finally gave all her fans what they have been waiting forever for.
Mariah Carey released her new album title, cover artwork, track list, and release date all at the same time today.
The record, which is the 14th for the Diva, will be titled Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse, and boy has she been elusive. The album is FINALLY being released after the dates have been pushed back twice, following singles "The Art of Letting Go," and "Your Mine (Eternal)," underperforming.
Earlier this week reports were claiming that Mariah was going to pull a Beyoncé, and release the album without any notice. Carey however decided to go for a more traditional approach, giving us a release date, how nice of her. She posted to her Official Facebook page that the album will be released on May 27, so fans will have to wait a little less than four weeks to get their hands on it.
Mariah is giving us everything in the album artwork. The songstress is standing barefoot, walking on water like a God, and standing against a sunset sky, in an almost Aphrodite-esque pose.
The deluxe album is set against the same backdrop but instead of a full body shot, this one is just a close up of Mariah, with her hair blowing in her face.
Carey reveals that the inspiration for the album comes from a self-portrait she drew when she was three -and a-half years old, that she titled "Me. I am Mariah." Don't worry, Mariah fans, you will get to have your own personal copy of the artwork, as it also acts as the back cover for the album. She posted a YouTube video describing the picture saying "it was a creative visualization of how I saw myself with the purity of a child's heart, before it was ever broken."
Mariah also gave us the track list as an extra special gift, which features guest spots by Nas, Miguel, Wale, and Mary J. Blige.
