At one time many believed Amir Khan could become one of the greatest boxers around, but after a few dodgy fights, many labelled him a flop. He has spent a year rebuilding everything about his career, and he returned in what many said was the wrong fight, fighting Luis Collazo. Luis is known as one of the toughest boxers in their division, but Khan came in to the fight in the best shape of his entire career, beating Collazo 117-106, 119-104, 119-104 and reintroducing himself to the boxing world.
Amir had wanted to fight Floyd Mayweather, but was told he needed one good fight, and this fight should be more than enough to ensure he gets his way. Khan was fast, smart and floored him three times, meaning Collazo needed a knockout to grab a win. Going in to the fight it was deemed a 50/50 bout, but Khan's focusing on Floyd, saying "Styles make fights and I really believe I have the style to trouble Floyd Mayweather." He then paid tribute to Virgil Hunter, saying "Virgil Hunter taught me some things and I put them together,".
It seems his time in the gym, the ring and the books have more than helped his game. Khan was seen as a boxer that didn't have enough at 27-years-old, but now he's seen as a young, fresh talent, with years to add to this impressive fight. After all it's only one fight, but it was the best message Amir could possibly send.
Can Khan beat Floyd Mayweather, and if not who else could he fight? Could he be the one to finally silence the troubled star Adrien Broner?
