Both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are locked in an intense battle for the La Liga title, and the Champions League trophy, but as Atletico looked like scooping up the La Liga prize, there have been more twists and turns. They have not won it since 1996, and with their loss against Levante today, it's given a much needed boost to their bitter rivals Real Madrid, and Barcelona.
With only a few games remaining it appears it is still anyone's to lose. Atletico lost 2-0, whilst Real looked to take advantage, however, they drew 2-2 with Valencia, keeping Barcelona in the title hunt. The pair both qualified for the Champions League final this week, and it looks like their city rivalry is about to grow beyond belief with the intense climax that's approaching.
Gareth Bale is hoping he can win La Liga with Real at the first time of asking, but Diego Costa of Atletico is hoping to win, knowing he is likely to be leaving for the Premier League this summer. Which of these teams deserve the title, and with their attention firmly on the Champions League final, could Barcelona climb back up to the No. 1 spot, or is that too much of a push for them?
Both La Liga and the Premier League are having their most exciting seasons in a long while, and with many options left with little time remaining, there's no doubt that these two leagues are the most dominant in Europe, and the world.
