Ariana Grande's new single 'Problem' is proving to be anything but that for the songstress.
The new single which was released to iTunes last Monday is on track to become one of the biggest debuts for a digital song in the history of the chart. Insiders are saying that the song could sell upwards of 425,000 downloads before the tracking week is up, which will end on May 6.
If the song does sell that many copies it will rank in the top 10 biggest debuts for a digital download ever, and will be the fourth highest for a female artist. "Problem" would be in great company though; it would be bettered only by Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga. Taylor Swift sits at the apex of the highest digital debut for a female chart with her single "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together debuting to 623,000 downloads in its initial week. Katy Perry comes in at number 2 with song "Roar" with 557,000 downloads and Lady Gaga sits at number 3 with "Born This Way," which sold 448,000 digital copies.
If Grande does happen to sell 425,000 downloads she will join Perry's "Roar" as the only two songs recently to debut to more than 400,000.
Let the record breaking continue.
Should these numbers be accurate, Grande will also become the youngest female artist to debut with more than 400,000 copies sold. Not too shabby.
The single is the first song released off of Grande's upcoming second album which is due out later this year.
