In case you hadn't heard Paul Heyman mention it approximately 247 times in the last month, Brock Lesnar ended the Undertaker's streak at WrestleMania. Rumors have swirled about who made the call to end the streak and what the circumstances were, and Mr. WrestleMania himself, Shawn Michaels, has shed some light on the situation.
HBK appeared on Jim Ross' podcast, The Ross Report, and said Vince McMahon, as some expected, made the call. He offered the following perspective on the decision for Undertaker to lose:
"You know as well as I do that one person and one person alone makes that call. As much as everyone wants to think other people have some say so in that, they don't. I was stunned like a lot of people. I was there when it all happened. I know what happened. I make the calls around here in my house. That's the way things go. ... I'm sure in Vince's mind, he's got a reason. ... That's just a decision that's made. One person makes it and everyone has to abide by it. The reasons for that, I don't know. I don't know. You don't know. I'm sure he does. Like Mark said a number of times, 'I've got the worst record with that man.'"
Ross then said he would not be surprised to learn McMahon made the call the weekend of WrestleMania 30, and Michaels said, "I can tell you. Four hours."
The only mystery now is why McMahon decided to make the call this year with Lesnar as the opponent. Perhaps we'll learn more when the Undertaker appears on The Steve Austin Show.
