Manchester City fans and many others have considered City the title winner favourites for a long reason. Although it's been a very close season, City have had games in hand for a long while, but on Wednesday night they played their final game in hand , which was their penultimate game of the season. How has their game with Aston Villa shaped the Premier League? With the final games of the season taking place this Sunday, now the title is almost a certainty for City.
The first half was edgy, with Villa having nothing to play for and City having everything together it strangely seen their tactics combine and match, making an interesting, close opening half. With Sergio Aguero out through injury, City missed his creative spark and rarely looked like scoring.
Edin Dzeko stepped up to slot a cross home, ensuring the pressure had finally been lifted and it seemed to work, with the tall striker scoring once again minutes later. From then on it was about seeing the game out, or scoring more goals, whichever came first. City stormed through the Villa defense twice more, to make it 4-0 and make it a near impossible task for Liverpool to win the title on goal difference.
Now City need a draw or Liverpool to drop points to lift the Premier League title this Sunday. City play West Ham, whilst Liverpool play Newcastle. Both teams should win, but now City have a lead and the better goal difference. With that in mind it's hard to look past City.
