For a long while many have discussed the Browns need to find a franchise quarterback and many said Johnny Manziel would be that man. With two first-round picks in the 2014 NFL Draft the Cleveland Browns knew they had a chance to land 'Johnny Football', depending on what the other teams did of course. The Browns made several trades to move up and down the draft board and after landing the 22nd pick of the first round they finally grabbed Manziel from the board and gave the city of Cleveland the boost it's been longing for for so long.
Manziel and Brian Hoyer will fight it out to be the No. 1 QB in Cleveland, but the pair have insisted they'll enjoy working together. The Texas A&M QB has had his personal problems, but he's insisted for months they are well and truly behind him, and now it's about being the QB the NFL, and now the Cleveland Browns believe he can be.
Although there was 'safer' picks, the Browns could not afford to miss out on the wild-card option that is Johnny Manziel, or Johnny 'Cleveland' as many fans are already calling him. He has the spark to win football games and all of the abilities teams seek, too, but can he mature and develop in to the man to finally give the Browns the franchise QB they've always wanted?
Many believed the Browns would take Johnny with the No. 4 pick, but by trading it they got two key starting players in this years first round, and first-round pick for next season. That's not it, the Browns would've paid Manziel around twice the salary he's likely to earn now. If he was drafted at No. 4 he would've commanded a much bigger salary, and one that would've allowed many to scrutinize him if he fails. Now the Browns have a fairly priced QB with a huge amount of potential.
How will Johnny Manziel do in Cleveland, and was this smart business by the Browns?
