Easily one of the most interesting and gruesome shows on network television has been renewed for a third season despite low ratings. Just like its second season, Hannibal has gotten a new series order from NBC based on fan following and critical acclaim.

According to The Hollywood Reporter :

Hannibal, a relatively inexpensive show for NBC to produce, has always had critical clout on its side - if not the highest ratings. The sophomore season of the drama has performed largely in line with the first, despite the lesser-watched Friday time slot, and averaged a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49 and 3.9 million viewers.

Mstars News previously reported on executive producer and creator Bryan Fuller's confidence in the third season renewal last week.

"I hear very positive things," Fuller revealed at the time, according to Digital Spy. "All of the creatives at NBC are so supportive of the show and want it back, and the schedules and salespeople are like, 'It's a new show, get rid of it'. We are banking on the creative people winning out over the salespeople."

As you can tell from the promotional photo (taken from the official Hannibal Facebook page) at the top of this article, the series is already celebrating the news. We're all rejoicing in the news, for Hannibal is arguably the most creative shows on television today. Hopefully ratings for season three will be better so that fans don't have to wait so long and wonder about a renewal.
