Rumors had swirled for several weeks that Vince McMahon wanted to pit WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan against Batista at the Payback pay-per-view on June 1, but Batista supposedly did not want to lose to the champion. Recent reports conflicted with these rumors, and a new one throws even more water on the fire.

ProWrestling.net, aka DotNet, posted the following quote from a source with knowledge of the situation who claims the rumors about Batista not wanting to lose to Bryan are nonsense:

"WWE wants that story out, but it's all twisted. [Batista] would do five jobs for Bryan. They've f*cked him in money, booking, broken promises [relating to his] schedule, and promoting his [outside projects]. Had that not happened, he would be around until late June, but because Vince [McMahon] f*cked him, he's not, so they dragged Daniel Bryan into this to vilify Batista. Daniel is beloved and a martyr so he benefits, but it has nothing to do with jobbing. They've twisted. It's classic Vince. Look at Ultimate Warrior and SummerSlam, Bret Hart in Montreal. [Vince] puts out his narrative. There are always two sides."

Reports now state Batista is actually upset with the amount of money he is receiving for his recent comeback to WWE. Furthermore, this problem does not seem to be exclusive to Batista, as many other talents are upset with their paychecks as of late. Reportedly, the main problems are the WWE Network and decreased income for the talent from video game sales.
