Straight from the pages of the Captain America comics, ABC has picked up a new spy series starring a popular supporting character. More details have now come into light about the upcoming TV series, Marvel's Agent Carter.
As reported here, ABC picked up Agent Carter and a second season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Marvel has just released the official synopsis and promo logo for the upcoming Agent Carter TV series. Haley Atwell returns as Margaret "Peggy" Carter, a character created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, for the Captain America comics. Her spy missions will continue in the 1940s while everyone else thinks Captain America is presumed dead.
Official Synopsis:
It's 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life--Steve Rogers.
[Spoilers] This is what we already know from Marvel One Shot: Agent Carter, and Captain America: The Winter Solider. Carter will eventually be co-head of the newly created S.H.I.E.L.D. During her time as co-head, Hydra has infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. under her watch and placed traitorous moles in her operation, which Captain America will have to stop in the future. So Carter is pretty much a terrible boss at S.H.I.E.L.D. who lets her guard down and lets Hydra takeover, right under her nose?
