DC Entertainment has released a sneak peek at their upcoming animated feature, Batman: Assault on Arkham Asylum. In order to get their prison sentences reduced, the Suicide Squad has to break into Arkham Asylum and steal something, all before Batman shows up.
Producer James Tucker explains how the animated movie connects to the Arkham Asylum videogames, "Since we're kinda the prequel to the very first game, we want to make sure we were actually filling in any gaps the games might have had between them. We wanted to be the glue that fits those two puzzles together."
Voice Director Andrea Romano describes the plot, which involves members of the Suicide Squad breaking into Arkham Asylum, "Basically the story is, Amanda Waller (CCH Pounder) pulls a bunch of criminals together to steal something that the Riddler has."
Co-Director Jay Oliva (The Dark Knight Returns) discusses the look and feel of the animated movie, "As I was prepping myself for this film, I thought to myself, 'Well you know what, if I directed this a little differently, what if I directed this like a Guy Ritchie film. That's what we ended up doing. We ended up making it feel like a very heist, Italian Job type of film. "
