BOOM! Studios announces that Evil Empire #2, the hit series from Say Anything lead singer Max Bemis (Polarity) and artist Ransom Getty (Guarding the Globe), has sold out at a distributor level. Boom! Is rushing towards a second printing, featuring a cover by Andre De Freitas.

The Evil Empire series sends readers to an oppressive and totalitarian future. 25 years ago, Reese, an underground hi-hop artist, becomes involved in a horrifying situation caused by her lyrics. Reese's inciting incident c kicks off the government's road to becoming an evil empire.

In an interview with USA Today, Bemis describes the themes of his comic, "Evil Empire really sprung from my fear of society devolving into something horrible, because it has so many times. My idea was to take that fear and push it to the furthest extent, like what am I the most afraid of? What could happen in modern society that would be a complete encapsulation of what I fear? And that would be the loss of all morality and institutionalized evil."

BOOM! Studios Editor-In-Chief Matt Gagnon mentions how the Evil Empire series stands out, "Evil Empire #2 reaching a second print is a special benchmark for a series that is garnering a ton of critical acclaim for us. Max [Bemis] has created a charged and powerful story that asks the hard questions about morality and its place in politics. He gives us a view of how a society could crumble and how a true evil empire rises. What's even more exciting? The story is barely getting started."

Plot Synopsis:

In Evil Empire #2, the sands are shifting in America's public consciousness. One action has torn the country apart in a debate over the meaning of right and wrong, and Reese is not about to stand by as the American people support the ranting of a mad man. But how far will people go to take a stand for what they believe in?

From his official Twitter, Freitas states Evil Empire #2 is his first comic book cover:

Evil Empire #2 is expected to hit stores on May 28. Let's see if Reese can survive a horrible future caused by the music she created.
