Two and a Half Men, with its torrid past of stars going a bit nuts and ratings soaring either way, will end after its upcoming twelfth season airing this fall. The show's eleventh season averaged about 2.3 million viewers among adults 18-49 demographic and 9.1 million total viewers.
Deadline broke the news:
CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler this morning confirmed that the upcoming 12th season of veteran comedy Two and a Half Men will be its last. The network is planning a sendoff similar to that for How I Met Your Mother this season, with co-creator/executive producer Chuck Lorre promising a "season-long event." Men defied the odds, surviving the meltdown and subsequent firing of original star Charlie Sheen to go on for four more seasons with new leading man Ashton Kutcher.
"Chuck Lorre is creating a season-long event. We did very well last year with announcing final season of How I Met Your Mother here, too. Chuck is very psyched about this; he's got some great ideas and very big surprises," CBS President Nina Tassler said according to The Hollywood Reporter. "We know fans and audiences respond to that and that should really give us a nice boost when we launch our new comedy."
CBS has yet to announce an episode count for upcoming final season of Two and a Half Men, but plenty of television news sites are saying that The Odd Couple's midseason debut could take over for the exiting series.
