A new generation of Godzilla fans will meet the creature for the first time in Godzilla: Cataclysm, the latest reboot of the popular franchise. After making its way back onto the movie screen, Godzilla resurfaces in a brand new miniseries from IDW Publishing. Writer Cullen Bunn (The Sixth Gun) and artist Dave Wachter (Night of 1,000 Wolves) take on the fire-breathing monster.
The five-issue miniseries, Godzilla gives up and abandons humanity after Earth has been ravaged by the monster apocalypse. In the ashes of a nightmarish future, an elder tribe leader, Hiroshi, is haunted by the monsters of the past. As danger begins to escalate for his dying tribe, the memories of the past may well be the key to saving the future.
Bunn describes how his love for the gargantuan creature has evolved since he was just a boy. "I've wanted to write a Godzilla story for as long as I can remember," the Sixth Gun writer enthusiastically explained. "Before I even started Kindergarten, I drew a book titled Attack of the Monsters, which featured Godzilla, along with other monsters, terrorizing the world. The story started with Godzilla erupting from an iceberg and ended when the military dropped a massive sword on his head. I like to think that my storytelling sensibilities have matured since those days, but the desire to write a Godzilla story has remained with me."

The fire-breathing goliath will stomp his way into stores this August. 2014 marks the 60th Anniversary of Godzilla and what better way to celebrate than with Godzilla: Cataclysm.
