The situation with Daniel Bryan's injury and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship appears to finally have some clarity, as the latest rumors and reports indicate Bryan will appear on the next episode of Monday Night Raw on May 26 and will relinquish the title.
WWE's philosophy seems to be to not rush him back too quickly just to hold onto the belt and instead the company wants to protect his health over the long term. A segment in which he surrenders the belts gives WWE the ability to create plenty of sympathy for the scrappy underdog upon his exit so that he can maintain his momentum when he comes back. Reports suggest he will be thrust right back into the main event scene when he returns.
As for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, it seems the company has no plans for it at Payback on June 1. Instead, WWE will build toward Money in the Bank on June 29. The current idea is to have two Money in the Bank matches, one for the title and one for the briefcase to cash in for a title match at any point in the next year. This plan is, as always, subject to change.
The Money in the Bank title match winner could wind up defending the title at SummerSlam against either Daniel Bryan or Brock Lesnar. The Beast Incarnate should return just after the Battleground event in July to build to SummerSlam.
