Campaigns have already started to remind Emmy voters to cast their ballot on an actor's powerful performance this past year. The Walking Dead fans have launched their own movement for actress Melissa McBride to be considered for an Emmy Nomination.
As reported here, Emily Kinney, Beth on the show, revealed AMC's 'Something Human' campaign for the Emmys. Though the zombie/survival drama is the highest rated cable series, and the special effects team has gotten its own praise in the industry, none of the cast members have received Emmy nominations for their powerful performances. Genre shows don't really get much attention, nor barely considered, at award ceremonies.
This fourth season has been very strong, especially in the episode, "The Grove." Carol (McBride) watched the consequences of teaching children how to kill in the zombie apocalypse. Mika is too gentle to survive in the cruel world and Lizzie is too confused to understand the undead. [Spoilers] After Mika is found murdered by her own sister, Carol has to shoot Lizzie in the head and breaks down in tears.
According to Wetpaint, the McEmmy Campaign is described as a "grassroots fan campaign" that currently pushes a series of tweets labeled "For Your Consideration." On their official Facebook page and Twitter account, this fan version celebrates McBride's amazing performance this incredible fourth season. Word has slowly gotten out because the crusade has gotten attention from Community actress Yvette Nicole Brown and TWD's own executive producer, Gale Anne Hurd.
From her official Twitter, Brown tweets, "I'm in The TV Academy and I'm voting for her."
@EdithLennonR @mcbridemelissa #McEmmy I'm in the TV Academy and I'm voting for her. You all have my support. Please spread the word.

From her official Twitter, Hurd even agrees that McBride should receive an Emmy nod.

Will The Walking Dead cast be ignored once again by the Emmys, or will Melissa McBride break that losing streak? TWD fans will have to wait until the nominations are announced on July 10, 2014?
