The family of late singer Whitney Houston's family is upset that the LifeTime network will produce a biopic about her instead of releasing it to the silver screen.

According to TMZ, the family is allegedly considering a lawsuit to stop the production because they weren't originally onboard with the film.

Pat Houston told the site, "Whitney is certainly worthy of more than a television movie. If Whitney were here today, this would not be happening."

MSTars News previously reported:

"Waiting to Exhale" actress, Angela Basset will be making her acting debut for the Whitney Houston's biopic on Lifetime.

The movie will reveal the late singer's early life, music career, relationship, and drug addiction leading up to her death in 2012.

The 55-year-old actress worked with the "I Will Always Love You" singer in the 1995 film "Waiting to Exhale" and revealed that she feels the duty to tell the late star's and Bobby Brown's story the right way, "I have such regard for both Whitney's and Bobby's amazing talents and accomplishments; and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story," Bassett in A statement. "Their humanity and bond fascinates us all. I'm beyond excited to have this opportunity to go behind the camera and into their world."

After the singer's 2012 "accidental drowning" in her Beverly Hill hotel bathtub she said she was grateful to have been a part of the late celebrity's life.

"I am so thankful to have been enveloped by the warmth of Whitney's great talents," she revealed. "They were undeniable and vast. Whatever her burdens, she has at last laid them down and picked up instead a crown. For truly, she was and will ever be for us-who were so captivated by her strengths-unparalleled."

According to Lifetime, "Whitney Houston chronicles the headline-making relationship between the iconic singer, actress, producer and model, and singer, songwriter Bobby Brown - from the time they first met at the very height of their celebrity, to their courtship and tumultuous marriage. Throughout it all, difficulties followed the superstar couple while they dealt with the overwhelming rewards and consequences of the fame and fortune created by Whitney's meteoric rise that would soon overshadow them both."

Whitney Houston  biopic is set to be released in 2015.
