Back in November of last year, The Kooks' singer Luke Pritchard got drunk one night and wrote some hateful comments about One Direction. Boy band member Liam Payne hit back, but what really affected Pritchard were the death threats he received from the 1D fans.
"I got death threats. I actually got death threats and that's their fanbase," Pritchard said according to The Mirror. "It's very strange that these days you can't take the p*** out of a boy band . I find that really weird. A few years ago we didn't even have boy bands. I was really drunk and I wrote something and it went nuts."
If you aren't familiar with the drunken Twitter rant composed by Pritchard, it started with the rocker tweeting:
"5 Little Things We Learned From One Direction's iHeartRadio Album Release Party... stop this malfunction. world realign please. artists dying." [sic]
He even turned on one of his own fans during this debacle, saying, "How can you be a fan of something that has no life? I honestly feel so depressed that you are into Kooks."
He then tweeted: "Hahah I'm so drunk. F*** it. I'm looking at what is there, seriously!! Is that what we have? Please buy real music... Rant... over." [sic]
When Payne took notice of the badmouthing and the attack on the fan, he took to Twitter saying: Sad thing is Luke we are/were fans of your band, nice one man verbally attacking your own fans how very rock and roll of you."
"It was like I had clubbed baby seals," Luke told the newspaper this week. "I felt really bad. But I do feel bad about it because I know they are nice guys living their dream, they are talented in their own way, but for me it's the machine they're from. They are very cute though."
Hopefully the death threats stop after Luke's kind words circulate around to One Direction fans worldwide.
