Edgar Wright is easily one of the most talented young directors in the filmmaking world today, so it was devastating and surprising when news broke that he had left the upcoming Ant-Man project from Marvel. Instead of dwell on this fact, a Vimeo user decided to basically show the world what Marvel is losing in Wright with a great video focusing on the director's ability to use visual comedy in all of his movies.
"If you love visual comedy, you gotta love Edgar Wright, one of the few filmmakers who is consistently finding humor through framing, camera movement, editing, goofy sound effects and music," the video's description states. "This is an analysis and an appreciation of a director so awesome that Marvel had to fire him on a holiday."
The man behind this mashup video, Tony Zhou, decided to compile these clips from Wright's movies to showcase what Ant-Man will now be lacking since Marvel axed the director: amazing visual comedy through great directing.
Pointing out the fact that Wright is pretty much the only filmmaker today that uses camera work and editing in the favor of delivering a joke, Zhou wanted to back up his feelings with this great video.
This compilation features scenes from Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World and other comedies that Wright directed.
