Not only did Miles Morales save the Ultimate Universe, but he also lost his father in the process. The stakes just got bigger as an old enemy returns to the limelight and a familiar face stops by in writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist David Marquez's Miles Morales: The Ultimate Spider-Man #2.
As reported here, Miles is dealing with the abandonment of his father, the high stakes pressure of being a teenager, and burden of being Spider-Man. So much happened in the first issue, that 22 pages weren't enough. Let's see what questions Bendis and Marquez should answer in the upcoming second installment.
1) Where Is Miles' Father, Jefferson?
After the events of Cataclysm, Miles revealed he was Spider-Man to his father/police officer Jefferson Davis. In a heart-breaking scene, Jefferson disowned his son and blamed him for his mother's death. Will Jefferson redeem himself for abandoning his only child? Or will he become Mile' most feared enemy?
2) Will Miles Reveal His Secret Identity To Katie Bishop?
Because Miles needed to know the consequences of unmasking himself to his girlfriend, he asked for Mary Jane Watson's advice. Marquez's artwork was just top-notch in Mary Jane's eloquent monologue. The love of Peter Parker explains that revealing a big secret such as his is like asking someone to marry them.
3) When Will The Green Goblin Fight Miles?
Just like in Captain America: The Winter Solider and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the law enforcement agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D. has been shut down. That means Norman Osborn, the man who killed Peter Parker, has to be transferred to another prison facility. Norman planned his escape while locked up and blew up the Long Island Expressway. Because Miles and the Green Goblin have never met, this is going to be an awesome fight.
4) Who Were Those Guys In The Battle Suits?
Bendis introduced these two new villains in the first installment. The two partners-in-crime are actually thieves wearing battle suits. Marquez illustrates them jumping in the air and swinging high kicks as they make their robbery.
5) Who The Hell Was That Guy On The Last Page?
[Spoilers] At the shocking last page, Miles found Peter Parker standing in front of him, alive and well. Could this be a clone (not another "Clone Wars" please!)? Or is it in fact, the original wall-crawler that Norman supposedly killed. Is Parker's sudden resurrection a tie-in to Spider-Verse, where every Spider-Man is supposed to show up? [End Spoilers]
Hopefully some questions will be revealed when Miles Morales: The Ultimate Spider-Man #2 hits stores on June 4. Readers, what do you think needs to happen in the upcoming issue?
