Kendall and Kylie Jenner are more than just pretty faces taking up screen time on Keeping Up With The Kardashians and tabloid headlines; the two half-sisters of Kim Kardashian are published authors, too! With the release of their first book, Rebels: City of Indra: The Story of Lex and Livia, a young adult sci-fi novel on shelves now, the two are trying to make the next Twilight or Hunger Games - so let's see what critics are saying about their debut novel!
Here is the official synopsis of this dystopian future young adult tale:
Two cities... Two girls... A shared destiny...
In a world of the far future, the great city of Indra has two faces: a beautiful paradise floating high in the sky, and a nightmare world of poverty carved into tunnels beneath the surface of the earth. Kendall and Kylie Jenner, the youngest sisters in the Kardashian dynasty, have written a gripping tale of air, fire, and a bond of blood.
It's pretty refreshing to see that the girls' loving sisterhood friendship has made its way into the pages of their first book. But is that enough to sway critics into a good review?
According to some reviews: no. These critics don't even focus on the story, but rather the fact that Kylie and Kendall might not have even written the book!
Here are some examples of reviews from Amazon to get a taste of how this book turned out:
There is no way they actually wrote this book. I'm sure they hired a top notch ghost writer. Even the ghost writer wasn't able to make their ideas into a palatable plot and story. Can't believe I took the time to read this.
I read this to have a laugh. Awful book, no plot development, character development-what the heck? Sorry pretty little girls-stick to what you do best, posing for selfies and shopping.
There is no chance they even cobbled together one sentence of this disgrace. Sad that there are actual, talented writers trying to be published.
