As Mstars revealed yesterday, Chelsea are moving significantly closer to completing a deal to sign Atletico Madrid's sensational Spanish striker, Diego Costa, in a deal believed to be worth around $46 million. The forward has had injury concerns lately, but the club, as many are this summer, are trying to get the deal done become the 2014 World Cup, which starts next week.
If a player has a good World Cup, then his value usually rapid increases, as does the competition to sign the player, so this represents smart value for Chelsea. Costa completed his medical today, meaning the fee and medical are finalized, with personal terms and the deal being rubber stamped all that's left to do.
With Chelsea coming within touching distance of winning both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League this season, will bringing in Costa this season be enough to ensure they're victorious on some level in the coming season? This should spell the end for some of their ageing forwards, and Chelsea should be a far better, faster and stronger team for it. If Costa can adapt quickly then the likes of Costa, Eden Hazard and possibly rumoured target, Cesc Fabregas, could make an impossible team to beat.
With the move possibly sorted before the World Cup, could Costa now have more mental clarity, and will that help him be one of the best stars of the tournament this summer? It's going to be a hectic few months for Diego Costa, but as proven before, he most certainly can handle it.
