It's almost a done deal that Channing Tatum will portray Gambit in the X-Men film franchise to the point that the actor and the studio are openly discussing the role as if he has already signed the papers. In a new interview, the 22 Jump Street actor goes into further detail about the part.

Fans and media outlets believed when Tatum first unofficially got the role that he would appear in X-Men: Apocalypse and then get his own solo movie. Recent reports contradicted that and said Gambit would appear in a solo movie before teaming up with the other X-Men.

Tatum spoke to Screen Rant, which asked him about director Bryan Singer's desire to put Gambit into Apocalypse.

"I would do anything to be in those movies," Tatum said. "I mean, I love the Marvel world and what they've created as a real brand and they've sort of changed the face of the industry. I would be in anything they put up, especially Gambit."

As for the costume, Tatum noted the filmmakers have to "figure out" the character's famous headpiece. He also stated it would not be a good idea to just introduce Gambit in his full costume because it wouldn't make total sense. "It's gonna be a slow figuring out of the design," he said.

"You kind of have to slowly massage it into a world you believe and that is honest to what the actual property and what the history of the character was... People know and love this character so you have to be honest to what it was in the comics, and you also have to give them something they believe and that they're not expecting. And so, it's a really delicate line to walk on and we're just going to take our time and figure it out."
