Jennifer Lopez Opens About Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes Split

Jennifer Lopez sat down with Mark Steinces from ET and shared her thoughts on the recent split between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.  Lopez has also experienced the sadness of divorce with Marc Anthony last summer and can somewhat understand the pain and difficulty her friends are going through.

Lopez shared with ET, "I'm sad for them. They're both really lovely people, and just like Marc and I, it's not what you want to happen. You fight and you try until you realize you can't anymore."

Lopez heard of the sad news while she was in South America.  "I was stunned," she said.  She hasn't had the chance to talk to Tom or Katie yet.  The singer expressed specific concerns for the children involved including daughter Suri and Connor and Isabella from Cruise' former marriage with Nicole Kidman.

"You know I just wish them, you know, peace in their decision. And really for Suri and their other children as well, because you become such a family, it's not just Suri, it's Connor and Isabella and everybody, you know, you all become a family. And when that breaks apart, nobody wins, everybody's heartbroken in some way. And I just wish them peace," said Lopez.
