Marvel has announced Sinister director Scott Derrickson will helm the Doctor Strange feature film. If you have seen this filmmaker's batch of flicks before, then you know this announcement is a big deal. Here are five really good reasons why you should be excited that Derrickson will be directing the upcoming superhero film.
5) Derrickson Knows His Horror
What's really cool about The Exorcism of Emily Rose is that it's a courtroom drama rather than a spooky exorcist tale. I am huge fan of Ethan Hawke's performance in Sinister. Just the trailer alone to Sinister tells you Derrickson will do wonders with Doctor Strange.

4) Welcome To The Dark Side Of Marvel Comics
In the Marvel Universe, Doctor Strange fights demons, monsters, and even the Devil himself. His greatest enemy, Nightmare, is the evil ruler of the dream dimension. If you're reading Original Sin, then you know Strange teaming up with The Punisher is like a good cop/bad cop movie.
3) He's A True Fanboy
Seriously, how can you not love a nerd who geeks over his next big job on Twitter? In his selfie pic, he's not holding any new recent Marvel title. Derrickson's holding an old-school Doctor Strange comic in his hands.

2) Stephen Vincent Strange Is A Super Flawed Hero
Not only is Strange is selfish and conceited, he's also a big-time manipulator. In Rise of the Midnight Sons, Strange manipulates behind-the-scenes the gathering of Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze, and the Nightstalkers against Lilith, the Mother of all Demons. Behind their backs, Strange orchestrates the epic battle so he doesn't have to fight.
1) 'Deliver Us From Evil' Will Give You Nightmares
A New York police officer (Eric Bana) needs the help of an unconventional priest (Edgar Ramirez) to solve a disturbing crime. If Derrickson can deliver the goods on a micro-budget, imagine what he will do with Marvel's money.
