How To: Thin, Jagged Blue Stripe Manicure (VIDEO)

With a little help from Scotch Tape, you can create a complex look with ease.

To begin this look, make sure your nails are clean and filed to a rounded tip. Feel free to shape your nails in your preferred style.

Once filed, coat your nails with a base polish. This can be a strengthening base coat or your favorite clear polish. I chose to begin using OPI's Nail Envy after hearing rave reviews online. You can get this polish at any beauty supply like Ulta or Sally Beauty Supply.

Using the teeth of the tape dispenser is key with this method. Depending on your nail length, trim pieces of the tape using the edge of the tape dispenser. All scotch tapes come with this edge and it'll take you a couple of tries before you get the perfect edging.

Apply three pieces of the thin, jagged strips to your nail. Make sure it is secured in place. Apply your Blue Nail Polish carefully to make sure there are no leaks beneath the tape. Remember you can use any color you would prefer. Apply a second coat of polish and let your nail dry.

Once dry, remove the scotch tape and apply a clear top coat.

Repeat this process for each nail.

If you're feeling a little adventerous, try applying a glittered or Revlon's Rebel Graffiti polish on top of your jagged stripes. This will give an added flare to your already styled manicure. I have fallen in love with Revlon's Rebel Graffiti because it works well as an accompanyment to any design and looks great on its own.
