According to Nick Cannon, American Idol might not be able to "afford" Mariah Carey as their next judge.
The speculation that American Idol may refresh their hot judge panel became official when Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler announced that they will part ways with the prime time talent show last Thursday (July 12).
Nick Cannon was pulled aside recently by TMZ with questions regarding Carey joining American Idol.
"I don't know if they can afford Mariah Carey!" Cannon responded. If they paid J-Lo $20 million, they going to have to double that!"
Lopez is rumored to have been paid around $15 million, despite what some including Cannon believes.
"I don't know! I'm not her manager, I'm her husband. I think she's got an album coming out," hubby Cannon added. "Everybody wants to talk to her!"
All this hype about Carey "in talks" with American Idol appears to be one of the many "talks" she may be involved in.
Do you want to see Carey on the panel? Is she worth double Lopez?
