Russell Brand "Stay True to His Word" on Staying Silent on Divorce With Katy Perry

Much has been heard from Katy Perry's side on the divorce that shocked even Hollywood experts, however Russell Brand continues to be silent.  

Russell Brand filed for divorce in December of last year to the pop star after 14 months of marriage.

The pair's split became official today (July 15) after many months for the process to complete.  In that time, Brand had committed to not speaking publicly about the divorce according to an insider.

The insider told Heat magazine, "This has been a bit of a publicity disaster for Russell. He made a pact with Katy that they wouldn't talk about the split, but now she's talking about him in interviews. He was just as devastated by the split as Katy, but he feels it's important to stay true to his work and never talk about her."

In a recent stand-up show, Brand remained "careful" about what he said about Perry when hounded about their divorce.
