Magic Mike XXL is one of the most anticipated sequels of next year, but one of the main stars could be out of the mix for the new movie. According to some rumors, star Matthew McConaughey won't reprise his breathtaking role of Dallas in the Channing Tatum movie.
This claim comes from comedian Gabriel Iglesias, who played DJ Tobias in Magic Mike.
"Word has it that Matt's probably not gonna be involved, because he's worth a lot of money now - that whole Oscar thing," he said.
Considering we're talking about McConaughey - a huge Hollywood star for many years - we doubt that this decision comes down to money. There were earlier reports that the Dallas Buyers Club Oscar-winner didn't really want to reprise the role or that it would be cut down for the sequel, so these rumors make sense.
Hopefully he'll still show up, considering he garnered such critical praise for his portrayal of the male strip club owner and dancer.
Back when Tatum announced that the sequel was coming together, he said that he thought "everyone's gonna be back," but admitted, "obviously no one's deals are done." As of now, we can assume McConaughey hasn't signed on, but he still has time before filming begins, especially if his role is cut down to a smaller part.
