Lana Del Rey must be feeling some serious Summertime Sadness.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, reporter Tim Jonze noted the singer has a slew of inspirations, all of whom have died at a young age. Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrixs, and Kurt Cobain reached icon status while alive but have been solidified in music legend from their untimely deaths. Lana, a fan of all things glamorous, retorted with, "I mean, I wish I was dead already."
The singer went on to say, "I think I'd be scared if I knew it was happening, if I knew it was coming." Jonze asked if her fans would be motivation for her to continue living, though she said she didn't think so. The singer said, "I don't want to like have to keep doing this."
The comments about early death sparked backlash, most notably from the late Kurt Cobain's daughter, Frances Bean. Frances wrote on her Twitter, "The death of young musicians isn't something to romanticize. I'll never know my father because he died young and it becomes a desirable feat because people like you think it's 'cool.' Well, it's fucking not. Embrace life because you only get one life. The people you mentioned wasted that life. Don't be one of those people."

Frances went on to saying, "I'm not attacking anyone. I have no animosity towards Lana, I was just trying to put things in perspective from personal experience."
