A shocking Aria confession, more unanswered questions for Spencer, and a hair change for Hanna? Those were just a few of the many twists and turns that viewers of last nights Pretty Little Liars got to see.
We've got a lot to talk about so without further ado lets dive into recapping last night's episode.
We pretty much pick up right where we left off after Alison discovers that her mother has been killed. Like any sane daughter would, she doesn't seem to be taking the news very well. She even decides to play a little dress up in her mom's wardrobe just to "feel close to her."
Much of the episode takes place in the halls of Rosewood High because lets not forget, these girls are still in high school after all.
While eating cheese fries in the outdoor cafeteria the girls converse over the latest developments in their ever-mysterious lives. The girls start to get anxious about all the lose ends that Ali's new "kidnapping story" lie is causing for them.
Refresher course for all of those that are a little bit confused with the new season, Alison lied to the police saying that instead of being on the run from 'A' for the last two years she had actually been kidnapped. The lie has left the core foursome feeling pretty nervous that people are going to start asking questions, especially Mona and Ezra, who know the girls were in New York the night that Shana aka 'A' died.
This episode deviates from the past few and focuses on things other than 'A', like relationships, and sports. We had almost forgotten that these girls had a life outside all of the drama and mystery.
While Emily gets to coach a new girl on her swimming technique, Hanna looks back on her relationship with Mona.
In flashbacks Mona and Hanna bond, making us think that Hanna might miss her former bestie. The leader of the former 'A' team tries to turn the blonde beauty into the new Alison after her mysterious disappearance two years prior, and she succeeds pretty well. "Ali was gone but you wanted her back."
While we have sometimes gotten confused between the creepily familiar features between Hanna and Alison at some points during the series, the creators directly reference the similarities between the almost identical looking blondes during this episode.
The Aria-Ezra relationship takes center stage. At first the brunette beauty is weary of seeing Ezra, even stalking his apartment, but is forced to say hi when he opens the door and finds her standing in his hallway. It seems that Aria goes there to get the manuscript for the book that Ezra was working on which Alison had requested.
We can't deny the chemistry between these two. At the end of the episode she proves that she can still trust him by coming back and revealing a shocking confession to him. She tells him that she is the one responsible for killing Shana and that he doesn't have to worry about 'A' anymore. He asks Aria how he can help her in the situation she has now gotten herself into.
Hanna and Emily plan a little girls adventure to Philly to try to keep a close watch on Jayson, who at this point everyone thinks is the one who killed his mother, everyone expect for Spencer. It turns out that the bad-boy had alibis, which couldn't have connected him to the murder of Mrs. Di.
So if Jayson isn't at the center of this murder mystery anymore who is? He kind of confirms something that we have been weary of since the beginning of the series, that Spencer's dad is somehow involved in all the Rosewood drama.
Mr. Hastings even confirms our heebie-jeebies about him when he spots Alison walking home alone and asks to give her a ride, in the creepiest way possible.
The episode comes to a dramatic conclusion when Spencer questions her father after he comes home late. Spencer needs to know who Mrs. Di wrote the "I can't protect you anymore" email to the night she was murdered. She harasses her father to give her any information, which he doesn't give her because he says "you cant lie about something you don't know about."
Melissa, the mistress of all evil, strolls in at just the right time saying "maybe we should tell her?" They don't, but we cant help but wonder what they are keeping from the youngest hasting's girl.
During the final few seconds of the episode we see Hanna getting a makeover at the salon hoping to find the "real" her. So what's her new hair going to look like, I guess we will have to tune in next week to find out.
