After video evidence showed Luis Suarez had indeed bitten Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini, FIFA opened a disciplinary proceeding that concluded this week. The Uruguay star player has officially been banned for nine international matches and cut off from "any football-related activity" for four months. This means he'll miss the remainder of his team's World Cup matches, Uruguay's international games after the World cup, and his Liverpool club team's English Premiere League matches for this duration of time.
He also has to pay a fine of around $111,000 and is "prohibited from entering the confines of any stadium."

"Such behavior cannot be tolerated on any football pitch, and in particular not at a FIFA World Cup when the eyes of millions of people are on the stars on the field," said Claudio Sulser, FIFA disciplinary committee. "The disciplinary committee took into account all the factors of the case and the degree of Mr Suarez's guilt in accordance with the relevant provisions of the code. The decision comes into force as soon it is communicated."
Suarez actually got off a bit easy with this ban. The goal-scorer originally faced a 24-game and/or two-year suspension from football.
As of today, Luis Suarez has declined to comment about the news of this extensive ban for biting an opponent.
