CW's The Flash reveals a bit more about the ensemble cast, spotlighting Tom Cavanagh's character, Dr. Harrison Wells. Cavanagh hints at the relationship between Wells and Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) in the Arrow spinoff.
As mentioned here, audiences have already met Dr. Harrison Wells, from the Arrow episodes, Three Ghosts and The Man under the Hood. The name has been mentioned a few times but audiences have never actually seen him. Viewers know that the scientist is the founder of S.T.A.R. Labs., which is an organization integral to the DC Universe.
In the origin story, when Barry Allen is struck by lightning, an explosion occurs in the lab. The particle accelerator, that gives Allen his superpowers, is one of Well's scientific inventions. The fiery blast is also the reason why the well-educated doctor is confined to a wheelchair. Though Barry and Wells have never physically met, they are still connected in a mysterious way.
Because we haven't see the pilot, we can only speculate what role Cavanagh's character plays in the development of the speedster. As the season develops, will Wells turn out to be a hero or enemy?
Because this is his first foray into the comic book world, Cavanagh teases why he can't say too much, "This is one of those situations that sounds kind of actor-y and lame, but it's actually also true. It's kind of a nice thing. You're going to have to watch but there is a strong bond between Wells and Allen."
From IGN's YouTube Channel, check out Cavanagh talking about his role:
The Flash will premiere this fall in October. Readers, do you think Dr. Wells is someone who wants to help or manipulate our titled superhero?
