Nicki Minaj snagged the BET Award for "Best Female Hip-Hop Artist" on Sunday evening in LA (June 29). And the "Pills N Potion" songstress' acceptance speech was quite bizarre, to say the least...
The former "American Idol" diva started off just fine, talking about how she's proud to be such a successful woman in a male-dominated industry. She then "plugs" her new upcoming album, The Pink Print. Nothing too out-of-the-ordinary. But then...
She sort of disses her fellow nominees, including Iggy Azalea.
"What I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj, is when you hear Nicki Minaj... Nicki Minaj wrote it."
And the rant continued on. Is Minaj suggesting that Azalea's mega-hit "Fancy" doesn't deserve such recognition?
Lil Wayne got a kick out of that one.
Check it out:
No shade, of course!
As for Minaj's near-death experience?
"The other day, I really thought I was about to die," the YMCMB rapper revealed. But she didn't want to call for help, because she was scared the whole situation would wind-up on TMZ. Um, what? She doesn't go into much detail after that...
Weird, but entertaining, nonetheless!
Minaj proved victorious against Angel Haze, Charli Baltimore, Eve, and of course, Iggy Azalea.
