The July 4, 2014 edition of WWE's Friday Night Smackdown begins with Seth Rollins, who shows off his Money in the Bank briefcase. Dean Ambrose rushes out and attacks him until Randy Orton comes out and the two men beat down Ambrose. His former Shield partner, Roman Reigns, makes the save and the two sides stare each other down.
Big E. defeats Cesaro by count-out in the first match of the night.
Sheamus retains his United States Championship against Alberto Del Rio.
Chris Jericho returns to Smackdown and calls out Bray Wyatt for attacking him on Monday Night Raw earlier in the week. The Miz comes out instead and says he is angry about Jericho ruining his moment on Monday and hitting him in his "money maker." Jericho responds with another Codebreaker.
AJ Lee returns to Smackdown with her Divas Championship once again and defeats Eva Marie in a non-title match with the Black Widow. According to reports, fans chanted "You can't wrestle" at Eva and "CM Punk" at AJ, but WWE will likely edit these out of the broadcast. Paige was on commentary for the match and stares down AJ afterwards.
Damien Sandow comes out as Bruce Springsteen and sings "Born in the USA." Rusev comes out with Lana, who cuts an anti-America promo on the Fourth of July. Jack Swagger comes out with Zeb Colter to make the save and Zeb cuts an anti-Russia promo. The crowd chants "We The People" as Rusev stares down Swagger.
Dean Ambrose defeats Randy Orton by disqualification when Seth Rollins interferes with his briefcase. They beat on Ambrose some more until Roman Reigns again makes the save. He hits a Superman Punch on Orton and the two former Shield members stand tall while Rollins runs away as the show goes off the air.
