A body has been discovered and it appears to be the body of missing teacher Bianca Tanner. According to the Charlotte Observer, the body was found Wednesday night in southwest Charlotte, as Tanner's boyfriend has been arrested in the case, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Chief Rodney Monroe revealed.
Thursday morning a news conference was held as Monroe said a body was found, after law enforcement searched a wooded area near Shopton Road close to Westinghouse Boulevard.
Angelo Grayson Smith Jr., Tanner's boyfriend, was arrested early Thursday and will be charged with murder in the 21 day case of the missing teacher, whom went missing on June 8.
Smith was the last person to see Tanner alive, when she disappeared in Charlotte after leaving Greensboro, NC with promises of landing a new teaching job at West Charlotte High School.
Monroe said CMPD detectives had went off a tip that they received during the investigation resulting in the search leading up to Thursday's findings.
The North Carolina A&T State University graduate's 3-year-old son revealed to investigators that Smith hit Tanner with a belt and "hurt Mommy in the face."
N.C. Medical Examiner's Office will determine if the body found is indeed a positive identification of the 31-year-old.
