The cast of Season 3 of the CW's Arrow continues to grow, as Karl Yune has joined the show as Oliver Queen's (Stephen Amell) Hong Kong handler.
TVLine reports Yune has secured the "major recurring role" of Maseo Yamashiro, whom fans will meet through flashbacks as Oliver's handler. He grows into a teacher and friend who helps Oliver on the path to the hero he becomes in the present day.
Maseo is the husband of Tatsu Yamashiro, whom DC Comics fans may know as Katana, and is "a skilled martial artist in his own right." Devon Aoki will portray Tatsu in Season 3.
Yune has starred in Memoirs of a Geisha, Real Steel and Speed Racer.
TVLine previously reported on four new characters for Season 3, and it seems as though "Akiko" is actually Tatsu and "Toshi" is actually Maseo. Here are the full descriptions the site posted in June:
Toshi: Majorly recurring in (at least) the Hong Kong flashbacks, Toshi (late 20s/early 30s) will serve as Oliver's teacher and handler, and eventually become a friend. A well-trained operative, skilled in weaponry, combat and intelligence gathering, he is also a devoted father and husband.
Akiko: Toshi's wife is another of Oliver's Hong Kong caretakers, and is herself highly skilled in martial arts.
The show returns with its Season 3 premiere on Wednesday, Oct. 8. The cast and crew will also offer a sneak peek at the new season at Comic-Con 2014 later this month.
