Arrow Season 3 Spoilers: Peter Stormare Joins Cast as Count Vertigo Werner Zytle

Several new actors have joined the cast of Arrow for Season 3 in this past week, and another one has now joined the ranks. TV Guide first reported exclusively that Peter Stormare would portray Werner Zytle in the Season 3 premiere.

In DC Comics' New 52 series, Zytle is the other name of Count Vertigo, one of the Green Arrow's enemies. Many fans assumed that Seth Gabel's character, The Count, would become Vertigo, but TV Guide reports differently:

"On Arrow, Werner is introduced as the new purveyor of the drug Vertigo, filling the role left vacant since the death of The Count last season. Zytle, who will be the first villain that the team faces in Season 3, will go by the moniker Vertigo."

Stormare has starred in Prison Break and NCIS: LA and most recently appeared on The Blacklist as Berlin.

In related news, TVLine reported Karl Yune has secured the "major recurring role" of Maseo Yamashiro, whom fans will meet through flashbacks as Oliver's Hong Kong handler. He grows into a teacher and friend who helps Oliver on the path to the hero he becomes in the present day.

Maseo is the husband of Tatsu Yamashiro, whom DC Comics fans may know as Katana, and is "a skilled martial artist in his own right." Devon Aoki will portray Tatsu in Season 3.

The show returns with its Season 3 premiere on Wednesday, Oct. 8. The cast and crew will also offer a sneak peek at the new season at Comic-Con 2014 later this month.
