While Kanye West's music career has been remarkable, especially with his sixth album, Yeezus, the American rapper has also shown a knack for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. After some 10 minutes of listening to the artist rant, the music fans at London's Wireless Festival had had enough -- and booed him.
Remember The College Dropout jumped onstage during the VMAs and interrupted Taylor Swift during her acceptance speech? Remember that time, during a live charity event, when the hip-hop star said that President George W. Bush didn't care about black people, surprising Saturday Night Live comedian, Mike Myers? Check out the video below for a sample of the audience reaction this time:
Can you imagine standing there, with the packed crowd, listening to Kim Kardashian's husband, with a glittery stocking-mask (some audience members on Twitter called it a "tea towel" and "a Gimp mask")over his face, rant about Nike, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton for something like 15 full minutes? It's takes 5 minutes to make a point. Ten minutes and then you start whining. Kanye really tried his audience's patience.
West ranted about fame, consumerism and the media, saying, "I'm not particularly angry but they've taken the idea of celebrity and tried to make me seem like I'm stupid or something. People keep looking at me like I got a problem or something, like I'm not doing something I'm meant to." The Yeezus rapper continued, "The lies, the media, they want to make you feel like you're less to them in their eye."
Some people on Twitter complained they had to stand in the rain listening to this. The crowd at London's Wireless Festival said "No More" to Kanye West after his extended rant. Readers, what do you think of West's latest soapbox moment?
