The CW Network has revealed before who Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, and Danielle Panabaker will play in The Flash. Now it's time to find out who actor Rick Cosnett is and whether Eddie Thawne is a character straight from the DC Comics superhero series.
As reported here, we know Gustin is playing Barry Allen, the red speedster in costume, and Patton is Iris West, Barry's love interest. In the DC Universe, Barry and Iris are destined to be together, even as the major supervillains try to break them apart.
What do we know so far this mysterious Eddie Thawne, a police detective in Central City? And why does his name sound so familiar to comic book fans?
Cosnett describes his character, "He's very golden. He's a good guy. He's almost flawless, you know. He sweeps in and saves the day, much to Barry's dismay; which I think causes great tension with Barry because we're friends as well."
Remember comic book fans, "golden" and "sweeps in" are major keywords.
From IGN's YouTube Page, check out Cosnett's interview here:
[Spoilers] Eddie Thawne rhymes with Eobard Thawne, also known to fans as Reverse Flash. In the Arrow episodes, Barry reveals his mother was murdered by a mysterious man in yellow. Could Barry's friend also be his mother's murderer? [End Spoilers]
Well, we could be jumping to conclusions. In the Green Arrow comics, Merlyn is the major supervillain, but in the TV show, the name refers to Ollie's best friend as well. I'm sure the Flash producers are going to twist things around to please comic book fans and surprise regular viewers.
The Flash will makes its premiere at San Diego Comic Con, before making its official airdate in the fall. Readers, do you think Eddie Thawne will be an ally or villain to our hero?
