From Marvel Comics' Icon imprint, comes an exciting crime fiction tale starring an undaunted professional killer. Writer Jason Aaron (Scalped) and artist Ron Garney (Thor: God of Thunder) bring readers a gritty and thrilling limited series, titled Men of Wrath.
In the plot, Great Grandfather Isom murders an innocent over an argument about sheep. Generations pass, and a black cloud still hangs over the Raths. A century later, Ira Rath has become the coldest hit-man to ever walk on Alabama's soil.
Ira has just taken a job that will decide the fate of his cursed family once and for all. The cycle of violence has shaped Ira into a ruthless killer. But can he somehow make the vicious circle stop before it ruins the bloodline forever?
In an interview with Comic Book Resources, Aaron explains the themes of the hit-man story, "Men of Wrath is about family history. Each issue opens with flashbacks to different generations of the Rath family." The Southern Bastards writer continues, "We kind of start to see how the cycle of violence begins and gets perpetuated and passed down from generation to generation of this family and kind of culminates in Ira as the worst of the bunch."
Garney adds, "I can't speak for everyone else, but I can guarantee this story is bound to hit on many different cylinders for many people because of the family dynamic."
As the limited series continues, each installment will explore what actions and events led Ira down his murderous path.
Readers will get a chance to explore the dark past of the Rath family when Men of Wrath #1 hits stores in October. Readers, are you excited to pick up the first issue of Men of Wrath?
