As a young kid many tipped Josh Hamilton to become one of the greatest players to ever play in the MLB, but after battling both drug and drink addiction, he's lucky to be alive and enjoying a career. Despite having all the promise in the world and receiving a huge signing bonus, the star couldn't help but to turn back to both drugs and alcohol, however, after having a season of domination for the Texas Rangers, it appears everything's been good for the star outfielder since he swapped his Rangers jersey for an LA Angels one. Now, it seems other than his family, his only addiction is baseball, and he's hoping to use his past experiences to deliver a World Series for the Angels.
The 33-year-old has a lot to give, and despite it seeming like he's been around forever, he still has plenty of years to give his veteran presence to the Angels. The star enjoyed playoff success for the Rangers, but he wasn't able to win a World Series title, however, his Angels side have recently struggled to get in to the playoffs. With the right balance, it appears they've found the consistency for this season, and it looks like Hamilton may get a few more shots at a World Series win after all.
The veteran has 5 home runs and 22 RBI, but his leadership in the locker room has been noted as one of the reasons they are having such a great season. The Angels look a certainty to gain a playoff place, whether that's from winning their division or grabbing one of two wild-card spots. Perhaps once, this new and fully focused Josh, gets back to the playoffs, we will see just how important he is to his Angels team.
Will Hamilton stay sober for good, and can the family man, and the once highly-tipped youngster finally get his hands on baseball's biggest prize?
