John Legend has just premiered his new video for "You And I (Nobody In The World) today.
The video, which features a diverse group of women from all different age ranges, ethnic backgrounds, and various shapes and sizes, shows close ups of each woman looking through a one-way mirror giving them the chance to see themselves while also looking at the audience.
Legend's video will serve as a jumping off point for a brand new documentary called "When I Look in the Mirror," which will tell the story of each of these women.
Both the video and the documentary will become a platform for the #OperationGirl Charity Challenge, which will be a six-week campaign featured on CrowdRise's website. In partnership with Legend, RYOT, and Burkle Global Initiative, the purpose of this campaign is to bring the best organizations in the world together, while focusing on empowering, education, and protecting both women and girls.
The Charity Challenge will see different charities competing with one another to raise money for this cause. The different organization will participate in the tasks to win prizes that total over $100,000.
John Legend is hoping his fans as well as other will participate in the challenges which will raise even more money for #OperationGirl.
"We live in a world where egregious injustices occur regularly against girls and women. We have a responsibility to take action and disrupt the conditions that allow for such tragedies to occur," Legend revealed in a statement. "Through #OperationGirl we hope to amplify the voices and impact of the many organizations doing great work on behalf of girls and women."
"John Legend, the Burkle Global Impact Initiative and RYOT have given us something meaningful to rally around, Robert Wolfe, co-found of CrowdRise says. "The #OperationGirl Challenge is more than just a call-to-action to fundraise for women's and girls causes, it's gotta be a catalyst to drive a movement and literally, change the world."
Fundraising is now open for everyone at operationgirl.org.
