Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan and producer Peter Gould appeared on the Television Critics Association press tour on Friday and revealed some more details about the spinoff, Better Call Saul.

Firstly, the series will take place in 2002, six years before Breaking Bad occurred. This actually confirms that Breaking Bad did, in fact, take place in 2008, which was never officially confirmed on the show. "I hesitate to say it, but it is indeed a period piece," Gilligan said, according to EW.com.

The new show will also jump through time, something Breaking Bad did quite frequently. "I think the best way to answer this and not get yelled at is you saw from Breaking Bad that we like non-linear storytelling and jumping around in time," Gilligan said. "I would point you in that direction, that anything that's possible in Breaking Bad is possible in Better Call Saul."

Speaking of the title character, his name will not actually be Saul Goodman, but Jimmy McGill. The character mentioned in Breaking Bad that Saul Goodman was not his real name and that he was an Irishman. The spinoff will chronicle his transformation from Jimmy, a small-time lawyer who hustles to make ends meet and works with Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks), into Saul.

The question on many fans' minds, of course, is if Bryan Cranston could show up as Walter White. After all, we've learned the show takes place before, during and after Breaking Bad. Gilligan left the door open but said the circumstances would have to be right. "If it makes sense, we'll do it. If it doesn't make sense, we won't," he said. "I'd love to have him as a director. Character-wise, who knows? Maybe there's a way to do it."

Finally, Gilligan and Gould said Giancarlo Esposito could return as Gus Fring.
