Eve, Jill Scott, Regina Hall To Star In Lifetime Movie 'With This Ring': Network Greenlits Film On Heels Of Whitney Houston & Aaliyah Biopics

It looks like Lifetime is about to get into the wedding business.

The network has just picked up an original movie starring Eve, Jill Scott, and Regina Hall about three single girlfriends who make a pact to get married within a year after attending an extravagant New Year's Eve wedding of one of their close friends.

The romantic-comedy is titled With This Ring, and will be directed by Nzingha Stewart.

Gabrielle Union, Sheila Ducksworth, and Tracey Edmonds will serve as executive producers for the film, which is being produced by Sony Pictures Television.

This addition to the Lifetime lineup marks their change into a more African-American driven network. They have been also given the go ahead for other black-centered original movies such as the remake of Steel Magnolias with an all black cast, as well as other movies such as Betty & Coretta, and A Day Late and a Dollar Short. Also in production at the network are the Whitney Houston, and Aaliyah biopics.

The network has found success with these African-American driven projects and is interested in developing more programing targeted to this demographic. Also possibly in the works for Lifetime could be an Aretha Franklin biopic, as the songstress has taken meeting with the TV station to discuss the project.

Shooting for With This Ring will begin this August.
